synopsis

Jason Tennies, a 20 year old college student, an accomplished musician and a black belt in karate with a very bright future in front of him begins to have frightening nightmares and delusions. Within 24 hours, David and Linda Tennies are facing every parent’s worst nightmare. Uncertain whether their son will turn violent or harm himself, they rush to get Jason help, all the while knowing that the fabulous young man they’ve nurtured and loved for two decades is potentially lost forever. As they helplessly watch their cherished son fall further into his paranoid delusions — they stumble across many barriers that prevent them from getting the assistance they so badly need. Will they get the help they need in time for their only son? This true story is about the closeness of the family unit, and the love that binds them together even in the throes of this painful new reality.

about

You might ask why we made this movie, and the answer is simple. We had no choice. David and I had to make this movie. We have to let others know about how the system is set up to fail so many families. We also want others to know they are not alone in their struggle. We made it a tribute to our beautiful son, who we love and miss so much. If you or a loved one is having these issues, please get help. NAMI is a great resource. We will continue to try to raise money for The Brain and Behavior Research Foundation in order to help fund research to find treatments, and cures. We must stop the stigma, and start the discussion. Please know you are not alone.
Thank you,
Dave & Linda Tennies
